dEcode® and Literacy

New to the 21st century, literacy is no longer simply equated with the ability to read or decode. Today, in order to consider oneself literate one must be able to problem-solve, possess numeracy skills, write articulately, and lastly, illustrate good comprehension skills. All of this is rated on a continuum. Should you wish to read more about this area, please review our FAQ page.

dEcode®

dEcode® addresses the underlying processing skills required in the development of reading and numeracy.

dEcode® is a philosophy that incorporates both a methodology and a program. It is supported by the latest neurological research verifying that reading occurs in a separate area of the brain from language. And unlike language, reading is not innate, it must be taught. The ABC dEcode® Reading Program gets at the “DNA” of sound/symbol relationships.

As students learn and test this consistency, they understand that they can rely on it. Automaticity is developed, empowering the individual to transfer this learning to reading and numeracy.

The ability to learn math begins with the development of making connections and learning its language. The 123 dEcode® Mathematics Program addresses, at the processing level, how to teach the skills necessary to learn number sense.

dEcode®  has been clinically tested on hundreds of learners and has been proven to be an effective tool in helping students of all ages to achieve high degrees of competence in literacy and numeracy, especially where other learning systems have failed them.
